Reports: King Amoah, Kumasi

In a passionate call for action aimed at safeguarding public health, the Founder and Leader of the Rock Universal Ministry locatedat Meduma in the Ashanti region, Apostle Benson Nimako has urged his fellow clergy members across Ghana to make environmental sanitation a central theme of their ministries.
Speaking to the correspondent in the wake of the recent devastating floods that affected numerous communities, Apostle Nimako emphasized that the church must move beyond spiritual rhetoric and take a lead role in advocating for healthy and hygienic living.
Beyond Spiritualization:
Addressing human error
Apostle Nimako expressed concern over the growing trend where citizens including some Christians attribute to the consequences of poor sanitation to the work of the devil.

Many sicknesses and flooding incidents that plague our country are not spiritual attacks; they are the direct result of our own lawlessness and disregard for environmental regulations, the Apostle stated.
People ignore the basics of waste management and allow filth to overtake their surroundings and when disaster strikes, they blame it on the enemy.
We must stop being ignorant and start doing the right thing.”
The man of God further challenged the narrow definition of cleanliness held by some congregants.
He noted that many believe that simply bathing, wearing clean clothes, and paying tithes fulfills the biblical mandate of cleanliness.
Cleanliness is a daily responsibility that encompasses our surroundings, our drainage systems, and our communities. It is next to godliness because it promotes the healthy life that God desires for His people, he added.
A Denunciation of Environmental Misconduct:
Addressing the recent surge in flooding, Apostle Nimako directed a sharp critique at those who engage in the sale and purchase of lands located within natural waterways.
He described the practice as an act of arrogance against nature and the Creator.
“God created waterways for a specific purpose—to benefit mankind and regulate our environment.
When people build on these paths, they are attempting to act as if they are cleverer than God. This is unacceptable and serves as a major contributor to the loss of life and property during the rainy season he insisted
A Call for Clerical Responsibility:
As men of God, we must stop thinking only about the physical walls of our churches or financial dividends. We should take the lead in creating environmental awareness within our congregations and the public, he urged.
If we preach a message of life then we must also preach a message that protects life by promoting clean surroundings.
Moving Forward:
Apostle Nimako believes that if pastors across the nation use their platforms to educate their members on sanitation, it would significantly contribute to national development by reducing the burden of disease on the country’s healthcare system.
The Apostle concluded his remarks by calling on all Ghanaians to adopt a sense of civic responsibility, stressing that a clean nation is a healthy nation.
The Rock Universal Ministry plans to continue its local sanitation drives to serve as a model for how faith based organizations can actively participate in nation building.
