We’ll Clash Them And It Will Be Bloody If They Dare Us – Aggrieved Residents Resist Unlawful Eviction.
Some residents and traders occupying a land near the Agenda 111 project at the Sawaba community, a suburb of the Asokore- Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti region, have expressed dissatisfaction over what they described it as illegal, deception, cheat and unlawful.
Their outrage comes on the back of their eviction by an individual developer, who has threatened to demolish their houses.
They have therefore threatened a bloody clash for any attempt to evacuate them.
According to them, the thousands of residents and workers occupying the land have been asked to leave without any prior notice.
In an interviewed with the correspondent their biggest worry is how they were asked to leave under the pretext that authorities were undertaking government projects, but, in actual fact, an individual developer is rather taking over the place.
We’ve been here for many years with everything intact.
You never gave us any prior notice, but go ahead to sell the land we occupy to an individual developer under the pretext of undertaking government projects. Why didn’t they make arrangements with us, how do you want us to survive, they asked.
Some of us work here to feed our families whilst others have built their houses and live here permanently. How do they want us to survive? They have threatened us and we are also telling them that if they are men, let them come here and we shall see”.
The residents have called on the Ashanti overlord Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and all other stakeholders to intervene before things get escalated.
“We’ll clash them and it will be bloody if they dare us. How do you evict us without making any arrangements with us? We know some people are hiding behind to sell our place to a developer for their parochial interest.
