Assemblyman causes lawyer to caution Electoral Commission over Electoral irregularities.
Hon Vivor George who doubles as the Assembly member for Mambang Akaase Electoral Area has through his lawyers cautioned the Electoral Commission over alleged serious misconduct during the presiding member election in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality
Hon Vivor George stated that there were irregularities in the voting process including the use of numbered ballot papers of which the Municipal officer of the Electoral Commission Mrs Betty Mensah compromised the secrecy of voting.
Mrs Betty Mensah was also alleged to have forced the Assembly member to use pen instead of indelible ink which is against the law.
According to him, despite all the protests from him (Hon George Vivor), the Municipal Electoral officer ignored the complaints and left the hall with her staff.
The Constituents it was said were angry as they charged Mrs Betty Mensah for condoning electoral illegalities in the constituency and therefore are urging the government to probe her.
This is because if she is not probed and brought to book as the Municipal Electoral Commissioner now, she can cause chaos in the constituency in the December 7 general general polls.
Speaking to the media he alleged that Mrs Batty Mensah have been going out with the Chief Executive Officer of NADMO, Nana Eric Agyemang Prempehfor unknown discussions, as they suspect she takes instructions from him.
Meanwhile Hon George Vivor’s Solicitors M/s Anaglate has written a strong worded letter of caution to the Municipal Electoral Commission copied to the Mce to be mindful of her conduct in any future elections in the area before a legal proceedings would be mounted against her.
The elections that hardly went on the favor of the contestants are scheduled to take off tomorrow Wednesday 21st 2024.
