Bloody clash at Asempanaye over Galamseye activities
The queen mother and residents of Sukwei, Dweneho, and Asempanaye in the Atwima Nwabiagya North and Ahafo Ano South West of the Ashanti Region respectively have been complaining about the activities of illegal miners in the area.
According to the queen mother and the residents in these communities, activities of illegal miners are destroying their cocoa farms, water bodies and forest reserves.
Explaining their ordeal to the correspondent aggrieved residents complained of several instances where illegal miners have in several occasions threatening the community members with thugs and guns.
The residents are, however, calling on the security agencies and other stakeholders to come on board in helping to deal with the issue before it escalates.
“We are calling on the police to intervene as a matter of urgency or we would take the laws into our hands” some residents threatened.
